#Hairreview Featuring #Mizani Relaxer Touch Up and Hair Length

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

Now at the end of June and upcoming Fourth of July weekend, I am in serious need for a relaxer touch because I know how dense and unmanageable my new growth has become since my last relaxer at the beginning of March. I have always come to this salon academy which they use Mizani Butter Blend Relaxer and Mizani and Loreal Professional salon products to style my hair for great results! The instructors and students are always courteous and professional in how they execute the salon experience from beginning to end!

After protecting my hair, both the previous relaxed and new growth, my stylist applied the relaxer in my hair and then rinsed in the sink area! No burning nor irriation here! :)

For the Mizani relaxer process, first they rinse, deep conditioned (hence the plastic cap and reading my Vogue), and finally shampoo my hair! Its all about protecting and conditioning my hair through the chemical process! Afterwards, I sat in the stylist chair and awaited for my hair to dried and flatiron style to complete my newly relaxed hair!

Several high quality products used to during the heat and style process for my hair including Mizani style and finishing products!

After drying and flat ironing my hair, my hair length is now upper back/arm pit/ breast length depending how you measuring it!! I will continue to grow my hair until its waist length which will be a personal hair and health goal for me! My next Mizani Butter Blend relaxer touch up will be at the beginning of September at Sylvain Melloul International Hair Academy!

#HomeDepot 20th Anniversary #KidsWorkshop

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

At Home Depot, kids and families celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Home Depot with monthly Kids Workshop project for July, face painting, signing and hand printing, and sweet cupcakes to eat! My son and I participated in building together bug box for July!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

This project has been a little tricky for us due to holding pieces together while constructing it! After building the wooden structure was completed, Nathan chose the colors and painted the bug box then we thumb tacked the mesh around the wooden box!

Although he declined the face painting, Nathan and I participated with the celebration activities along with the kids and families! Hopefully we can catch lady bugs and fire flies with our new bug box!

Until next time...

June #EmptiesReview and Updates for July/August #EmptiesReview

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I have complied my empties for this June Empty post review featuring massive skincare products, some beauty and hair care, and lifestyle items! I personally felt very good that I used what I already have in my small beauty collection to make sure I used before consider buying more, which can become an addiction among bloggers! Read more below about the products and samples that I used up and details for my next Empties Review!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I have used up alot of skincare items that I mostly get at my grocery/drugstore, Birchbox monthly subscription boxes, The Body Shop goodies from my local TJMaxx, and from consignment shops! Some of these items I will use again for their effectiveness with my dry skin type for my face and body while others I will not buy or simply glad it was a sample only! A few luxe skincare brands I love but had to get via clearance, TJMaxx, monthly samples, or consignment esp after Mother's Day!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

This June, I personally used Miss Jessie's sample paks one week before my relaxer touch up and will buy them again! Although I have loved R + Co products via Birchbox, this Dallas spray smelled like alcohol and my hair felt like it despite using it sparingly, so no I will not try nor buy this product again!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

These cosmetics from Coastal Scents, Loreal Paris, and Stila Cosmetics were nearing almost 2 years and just gathering dust in my drawer and counter space! Nothing wrong just they were starting to show signs of breaking down or did had contact with my eye infections due to my auto immune system thanks to Crohn's Disease! When in doubt, throw it out!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love this fragrance sample that I got as Sephora Beauty Insider from Dolce and Gabbana called  "Dolce" which is perfect floral scent that went well with my body chemistry and pretty much wore it daily down to the last drop! I hope to purchase this perfume on sale because it is such a lovely floral fragrance that transport me to beautiful Italian garden! :)

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love Tocca fragrance which I love receiving in my monthly Birchbox in "Giulietta" which is a good daytime perfume and might get someday from Birchbox!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

These are a few of lifestyle items from Febreze to freshen my lightly soiled clothes & fabrics from summer orders like BBQ, Tide stain stick for attacking stains immediately, and using Up and Up (Target brand) cotton balls for beauty to craft needs! All of them I will easily repurchase again and again!

I hope you enjoyed my Empties Review for June and I decided to combined both July/August Empties Review  in September which will have more skincare, hair products, beauty, and lifestyle items that I will officially "clean out" my beauty drawer, counter, and various bags before stocking up on new products for the Fall/Back to School season!

Until next time...

#WellnessWednesday Summary for June and Summer Break

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

For the month of June, I am starting my Wellness Summary with my bi-monthly injections of Humira shots that I get done by the awesome nurses at my local doctor's office! I have been living with Crohn's Disease which gastrointestinal condition since I was a teen! This drug helps keep the flare ups at bay to help live a healthy lifestyle!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I enjoyed trying out this free sample of Pure Leaf brewed tea with my salad for lunch for a refreshing drink with lemon and honeysuckle! :)

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

Enjoying a glass of Ocean Spray Mocktails in Cranberry Sangria while reading a great book!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I have tried this DIY beauty trick for my dry and acne prone skin to help clear my pores and remove dead skin for a refreshing feeling by sprinkling baking soda on lemon slice and rub over my face, wait a few minutes due to citric acid from the lemon, then rinse with lukewarm water!

Living in my home state of Virginia here in the South, I love the beauty and fragrance of a magnolia blossom!

I have been loving my flower power moments when I go grocery shopping checking out the beautiful (but not very fragrant) roses on display! Sometimes, I will buy a rose or flowers in the clearance section of floral department, take back home and set them up on the table! Flowers are truly one of God's beautiful and fragrant creations and doing love to stop and admire the roses for my spiritual, mental, and emotional health!

I will be taking a little break from my monthly wellness updates to give myself a little digital break and focuses on several projects that I need to accomplish!! I hope to start up in September with my wellness monthly updates!

#Bookreview for June #MyNameIsRed by #OrhanPamuk

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

When I saw this book under the "New Arrivals" section I was drawn to medieval drawings on the cover of this book about the Ottamon Empire and the royal court! Mostly a murder mystery about one of artist commissioned to do what is consider "controversial" artwork style, a man from the past has been charged by a senior artist to find out who is responsible and also discovers his love from his childhood! This book is a tapestry of royal plots, believes, sex, powers, and art that I found very fastinating as I read this book!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love maps in novels, fiction or nonfiction, because it tells alot where characters or events have been taken place, whether its local or far away! In this map, I can see where the Ottaman Empire is in between Europe and Middle East/Asia continents which help shaped the course of the country and its people!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

For those learning about different faith practices, I learned a few passages how certain Islamic sectors believe, practice, and interrupt certain chapters and passage from their Holy Koran and applying it do traditional and contemporary daily activities.

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love the table of contents and how it introduces readers to each character/object/idea and their perspective about their place in this mystery/murder story!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

In this character, we learn the perspectative of this color red in the artwork and how it intreprets the characters and ideas on the pages of books and artworks.

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

In this character, we learn of the fate of the now murder royal artist and how its waiting on justice and its perspectative of being on the supernatural side of the spirit world.

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I enjoyed reading the perspectative of the tree and how its being depicted in life and in art depending on the artist or viewers stand point!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

One of the heroes of the story, Black returns after 12 years back to his neighborhood in Istanbul and is charge in finding "who done it" with a murder of artist for the royal commission of book for the Sultan to Venetian ambassadors to show the glory of royal court and the Ottoman Empire. Layers of doubts, power struggles, believes, and art perspectives are all layers that Black explores and uncovers to find the murder suspect!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love how the women play a part in helping discover the murder mystery of royal artists while using their power of influence to navigate through cultural restrictions for clues through their circles of influence. One of the heroes of the story is Shekure, daughter of the prominent head artists who is commissioned to the royal book for the Sultan in private! Shekure is living as devoted daughter and widow of two young sons and figuring out her true feelings for  Black! She is intelligent, clever, and mysterious but uses her resources from her contacts through the female house slave, the neighborhood clothier and matchmaker Esther, and other circles of her influence.

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

In my personal opinion, Esther tells the events of this murder mystery and crazy love entanglement of Black and Shekure in very honest, hilariously manner. She is Jewish matron in Instabul who sells her fine clothes and exchanges love letters to most of the prominent and impoverish housesholds. Esther also use her intelligence and circle of influences to help assist both Black and Shekure in this mystery and their romance.

For me, I have not learn of this particular author and recipient for Nobel Peace prize in Literature until I discover this novel on the "New Arrivals" display at my college campus library. I hope to read his other literary works as well which seems to be influenced with his Turkish background. I highly suggest to read this novel which is good mixture of mystery, murder, royal plots, and romance for your Summer reading!

Until next time....

Hair Review Featuring #MissJessies

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I have decided to try Miss Jessie's Trial packages of Creme de la Creme conditioner and Pillow Soft Curls the night before Sunday morning to see if I can "wet that dries" style for the summer for a causal hair on Sunday morning! Since I am experience new growth in the back of my head I have heard these products are great for managability and styling of relaxed/wavy/new growth hair!  Normally, I don't have much luck in doing "Wash n Go" or Air Dry styles since my hair is prone to tangles and damage, but I thought to give it one more try with these Miss Jessie's hair products!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

Due to my long hair length and history of dry scalp/dry ends, I use Creme de la Creme conditioner after shampooing for over 15 mins then rinse with luke warm water to seal my hair cuticles! I love the scent and feel of this conditioner for my hair! After the shower, I use Pillow Soft Curls and used a wide comb to distribute through my hair from root to ends before I sectioned each hair areas, secured, and covered overnight! In the morning, I was not have happy how my slightly damp more than a mop versus gorgeous waves for my Sunday Morning hairstyle! I just did a simple pull back with headband and clamp to cover up my hair disaster! I will try Miss Jessie's hair products again but I will use my blow dryer and/or curling iron to get the desired wave look that I want after trying again for a wet/air natural style!

#LifeWithNathan Finished #TheAvengers Coloring Book by #Crayola

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

Today, Nathan and I meet a milestone in another coloring activity book that we had for several years and now completed it! Because, Nathan has been interested in arts and crafts particularly coloring, we have finally finished coloring Marvel's Avengers Assemble coloring book which has his favorites, Iron Man and Thor, based on the cartoons! Sometimes, I have done "hand over hand" over his hands while other times Nathan will show independence by making coloring by himself. Right now, I encouraged him do a color page as one of his "non-digital" choice before watching "digital" activity or a snack! Part of what he learns when coloring is getting to talk about the story on the page, choosing and naming colors from his crayons or markers, and writing his name after completing his work! And, we are continuing to use different coloring techniques to highlighting bold lines and filling in the "white spaces" on the pages!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

Above pictures are some of the artwork Nathan (and some assistance for me) colored these pages during our family time together! We talk about opposites about Thor and Loki, two brothers who do two different things! We will continue to finish the next coloring book before purchasing new ones for Back to School!

Until next time...
