I love using Benefit cosmetics and skincare via Birchbox so I was really glad to receive this additional sample choice option, Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Double the Lip in "Pink Thrills" (Full-size, $20), along with Dr. Jart sample choice!! I really love the 2 in 1 concept which is perfect for makeup newbs or multi-tasking ladies! I have always enjoyed using Dr. Jart's + skincare products via Birchbox and that's why I chose my sample choice of Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream (Full-size, $48). I have Crohn's Disease (autoimmune condition) and that means skin breakouts! I used this moisturizing cream with herbal power of Tiger Grass and other medicinal herbs to help heal and clear up my break out! I have been using it for a few days but love how hydrated my facial skin is and no long term medicinal smell!

I love using a good toner that cleanses but doesn't strip my dry facial skin which I discovered with Michael Todd Blue Green Algae Antibacterial Toner (Full-size, $19) which I felt refreshed before applying my skincare products!

Just in time for warmer Spring days and humidity, I can't wait to use this  R + Co HIGH DRIVE Moisturizing & Shine Creme (Full-size, $27) on my long, relaxed hair and will keep you posted with my hair results with this latest product!

  (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love trying Number 4 Haircare products via Birchbox so I will keep updated when I used this Number 4 Jouer d'Automne Sugar Texturizing Spray (Full-size, $22) on my long, wavy, relaxed hair type!

Thus far, I personally give this April Theme "Magic Inside" Birchbox a rating of "Five out of Five" because I tried and love several Dr.Jart's, Michael Todd Beauty, and Benefit and enjoyed receiving hair products that I can use for later from two fave salon brands from Birchbox!! I have saw and loved the previews for the May Birchbox which I can't hardly wait to select and buy!

Latest #Foodie Update Featuring #KerryGold Butter, #LibertyCreek Wine, and #TheFreshMarket

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love good food...there I said it! I am no pro or ultimate foodie, but I am a humble cook who will save up to find the ingredients on sale, discount, or clearance and then make a tasty meal for my family and myself!! One of the latest dishes that I have recently cooked is this lemon rosemary chicken in which I used fresh rosemary, Kerrygold butter, lemon, onions, poultry seasoning, and Liberty Creek Chardonnay (White Wine in a Box...gasp!) for cooking which came in the right amount for this dish! Everything you love in good Spring or Summer inspired roast chicken tasted so good in the meat and tasty lemon, savory broth!

The next dish I used Kerrygold butter in cooking some organic/sustainable sourced frozen shrimp with slices of garlic bread and The Fresh Market cocktail sauce! My son love eating seafood and this made a quick and simple lunch on warm Spring day!! And this concludes my latest foodie updates for now!

Curated #Birchbox "Out With the Cold, In With the New" Featuring #LivingProof #RandCo and #Smashbox

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I need a few extra items for upcoming events this Spring, and this compile of luxe goodies in this curated Birchbox, "Out With the Cold, In With the New"( $15 USD), made want to order and try them out since most are brands that are aware of but not have the chance for other products by their brand and few new brands, too! When my package arrived, I love how Birchbox had "Glorious" beside my name, esp going through several long term health issues is exactly the little pick me up that I love! This goodies came in the February Birchbox "Lip and Heart" design which is cool because we need love all year round!

For those want to sign up for their first box, use this link here  https://www.birchbox.com/invite/vthmz

KNC Beauty All Natural Collagen Infused Lip Mask (Set of 5, $24.99)

Smashbox Cosmetics Be Legendary Cream Lipstick in "Legendary" (Full-size, $21)

R + Co OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray (Full-size, $29)

Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Face Mist (Full-size, $32)

Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray (Full-size, $28)

Living Proof Restore Shampoo & Conditioner (Full-size, $28)

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

Normally, I don't usually wear red lipstick except for a few occassions but I wanted to try how this creamy  Smashbox Cosmetics Be Legendary Cream Lipstick in "Legendary" (Full-size, $21) will feel on my dry lips!! Legendary is a classic red lipstick shade by Smashbox which claims to be a "cult favorite" but for morning errands I just did a slight application on my lips! After a few hours I did have to retouch after munching on lemon cake & sipping hot chocolate at Starbucks inside Kroger for my groceries but I truly am going to using this sample lipstick which just the right amount for this modest beauty blogger!

I have always love LP hair products via Birchbox and will definitely be using  Living Proof Restore Shampoo & Conditioner (Full-size, $28) and Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray (Full-size, $28) on my long, relaxed hair esp after Easter Weekend activities!

UPDATE: I have tried Living Proof trio and loving the effects on my long, relaxed hair!! Since the shampoo and condition packets where made for someone with short hair/less volume, I concentrated both at my roots and work towards my ends! As for the Restore Leave-In, I have used the whole bottle to effectively apply to my hair before blowing drying it straight!! Highly recommend these products!

I have tried face and eye masks via Birchbox, but I am new to lip masks including trying  KNC Beauty All Natural Collagen Infused Lip Mask (Set of 5, $24.99). I will let you know of my mask experience!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I have great experience with trying R and Co Hair care via Birchbox, so this is one of the reason that I bought this box to try  R + Co OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray (Full-size, $29) esp this travel size since I don't use hair spray daily but on certain occasions when I need flexible hold and quality salon brand!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love rose based skincare products and my skin felt refreshed after trying this  Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Face Mist (Full-size, $32) in this Birchbox!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I love trying new facial masks, from muds to sheets, and I have tried   EVE LOM Rescue Mask (Full-size, $50) after long day of Spring cleaning for Easter holiday!! Filled with bits of herbs mixed in a white clayish paste, I applied a thin layer to my face for 15 minutes before hoping into the shower!! My facial skin did feel clean and refresh but I have experienced less expensive but great results with other Birchbox skincare!! Although the luxe price is a turn off for me, I will continued to use several usage from this trial tube in the future!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

I pretty love and hope to enjoy all seven items of this curated Birchbox  "Out With the Cold, In With the New" esp for the upcoming social events this Spring!

I had the pleasure to explore aboriginal artwork and culture at the Daura Gallery, located at Lynchburg College, which has been set up by a group of Museum Studies students!! I enjoyed learning about particular Australian tribes, the meaning of their artwork, and the gender roles of their society!

April #Bookreviews of #TheTaleofGenji and #TheMakiokaSisters

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

In high school and college years, I have heard mentioned but never read these popular world literature novels from Japan, "The Makioka Sisters" by Junichi Tanizaki and "The Tale of Genji" by Lady Murasaki, which I have now time to read and enjoy!

 (Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

Really a book in six parts, "The Tale of Genji" by Lady Murasaki is a story about a popular Japanese Prince who overcomes trials and gains triumph in the Imperial Court! Basically, Genji is considered a "playboy prince" with his various romances and palace intrigues with several woman, as well very thoughtful and kind royal!! Lady Murasaki is a very learned woman according to Japanese noblewomen and wrote this novel over the course of her life!!

This contents of the various chapters and parts of "The Tale of Genji" above in the pictures!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

In "Tale of Genji" this novel describes Genji was born a prince by his father, The Emperor, and his favorite lady among many wives and concubines in the Imperial Palace in medieval Japan! The author not only describes Genji and characters but also writes a highly detailed aspects of the locations, poems, nature, society, religion and politics as well! Just like with Jane Austin or Shakespeare, sometimes I have to re-read certain passages and footnotes to understand the meaning and culture to this fictional Japanese literature! Because it is very long and detailed, I have managed to read only the first out of six novels of "The Tale of Genji" but plan to check this out again and continue to finish this story which I find very interesting because it describes the trials and triumphs of Prince Genji!

This modern Japanese novel, "The Makioka Sisters" by Junichi Tanizaki, describes four sisters from a declining family trying to make sense of family traditions, both old and new, and fitting in the modern culture of pre- World War I and World War II (before the bombings). This story of the four sisters will have you crying and laughing, and picking sides of each sister for better or worse and how each face life choices and changes!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)
I love have this page of listing the main characters as guide while also understanding Japanese culture and traditions during the early 1900s!

Overall, I highly recommend both these novels which offer a lot of incite in the roles of Japanese women during medieval and modern periods of Japan in popular literature!
