Life with Nathan: Joy of Fall Brownies

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

Last Saturday, Nathan and I decided to bake delicious brownies for the Fall Festival at a friend's house out in Forest, VA!  My son takes being "Chef Nathan" seriously so over the years he has been helping out in the kitchen with some help from his mom (me!)!!

Following the directions on the back of the brownie mix, we pour the mix, beaten eggs, oil, and milk instead of water into the big bowl!! Nathan has come along ways with pouring wet/dry items without make a "big mess" in the kitchen!

Once all the ingredients were in the mixing bowl, Nathan and I took turns stirring the brownie mix with a wooden spoon!! Then we added the chocolate syrup packets and continue to stir some more!

Once we got all that brownie battered into our greased glass dish, Nathan helped with smoothing the batter to all four corners of the dish so we don't have "lumpy" brownies but similar to the picture on the box! Things won't come out "100 %" but to know the difference in presentation and making a product that you will love is important!

After 40 mins, I took out the brownies to be cool!! Of course, Chef Nathan wants to eat them right now but it was too hot and will burn our fingers! So while the brownies cool, I talked to Nathan that we are making brownies for special festival to enjoy the Fall...being outside playing games, eating chili and hot dogs, hot cider and hot chocolate, sitting around the campfire, and enjoying with friends and family!! "Share brownies" says Nathan. "Yes, share with moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, and even babies!" I said! Nathan smiles hearing about our church family group that loves, supports, and prays for our family!! Soon the brownies are cooled and then pack up and Chef Nathan and I are now on our way to the Fall Festival! Chef Nathan loves to make and share food with everyone!!

Until next time...

XOXO

    1. Indeed! My son has a big and adventurous appetite so I started early teaching him how to help out in the kitchen with kid appropriate!

    1. Definitely enjoying these mother/son moments!! I am blessed that Nathan is "sensory seeking" aka loves hugs/kisses/being around people/touching because some kids w/ Autism don't like touch stuff!!
