Life with Nathan: #Art & #Autism on Sunday Afternoon!!

(Source: Blueridge Beauty Blogger)

My son, Nathan, was treated out to a painting class that was hosted at Sip and Spatter (www.sipandspatter.com ), Lynchburg's first sip and paint art studio located in the Kroger Forest Plaza, which was also hosting a local birthday party that same afternoon. For those who are new to "Life with Nathan", it is posts of how my son, Nathan, is growing up living with Autism. My sister, Christina Ball, is the artist and fellow Lynchburg College #Hornet, assisted Nathan how to choose sample painting and then recreating it at his workstation!!

With some assistance, Nathan learned how to copy and paint the snowmen on the canvas with water-based acrylic paints in a fun, learning environment!! Both Christina and Shannon were very helpful and encouraging of Nathan's masterpiece plus he learned to improve his social skills in a non-judgmental atmosphere!! He learned to say certain colors, asking for snack and drink, and clapping after a Birthday speech from the nearby private party!

Nathan is learning to dry and then build up the color of the snowmen plus learning to add details such as the moon and stars!!

In most of Nathan's artwork, he loves putting a smile on the sun, moon, and right now Snowmen!  He decided not to put a face on the moon but expressed the Snowmen are "Happy"!! He chose the colors for the Snowmen's scarves in Green, Red, and Purple!!

Just like with his many artwork pieces, Nathan was assisted in signing his name at the corner of his Snowmen masterpiece!!

Nathan is very happy with his Snowmen masterpiece and posing here on the art wall and received so many encouragements and compliments from the ladies in the studio!! Nathan and I both enjoyed our "Mother/Son" Sunday Afternoon treat at Sip and Spatter!! Art is very great way of having fun and expressing oneself for people of various abilities which Nathan enjoys very much!

What are you plans during #Thanksgiving Week for spending quality time with your love ones? Nothing brings people together liking painting class!!

For more information about Sip and Spatter, contact Christina Ball at www.sipandspatter.com for studio hours and Black Friday Specials, private parties, and Corporate events!

Until next time...

    1. Thank you, Elaine, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, too! :) So glad to take time on Sunday afternoon for mother/son time in the art studio!! My Mom (Nathan's Grandma) already has it set up in her house so everyone can see what her only grandchild (for now) has done like a Mona Lisa!!
