Once in a blue moon, you just need to have a "Surf and Turf" menu on a Friday night! My son, Nathan aka "Chef Nathan" helped prepared this affordable at home meal which is rare treat for us with the help of getting several items including the "surf" on sale at The Fresh Market and the "turf" for "sale/reduced" at Kroger! First step, Nathan spread out the Cascadian Farm organic tater tots ($2.12 Last chance item at The Fresh Market) and placed them in the oven!!

Meanwhile, we started cooking the salmon and crab cakes from The Fresh Market in a lightly sprayed pan which took less than 10 to cook! Nathan takes preparing, cooking, and eating seafood seriously (like guys who take grilling seriously!). Nathan made sure the patties were cooked and were not burnt!

We love sauteed vegetables with our meat so I got these onions, green bell peppers, and Simple Truth mushrooms from Kroger all sliced and ready to be sauteed in the skillet! I used Kroger brand Worcestershire sauce, Private Selection garlic powder, black pepper and salt on this Private Selection Angus steak that I got for a deal "$6.99" reduced but enough for two people! I cooked this in the pan with a little bit of butter until medium/done!

Just like any other pre-tween boy, Nathan went to town on his "Surf and Turf" dinner for Friday Night!! I did like that I put a little crust on the steak and enjoyed some affordable seafood and steak with my son which far more economical than going to a restaurant (approx $50)!! What do you and your family enjoy eating on Friday night together?
Until next time...
