"Glass Sword" is the second book following the events after " Red Queen" of Mare (Mareena) Barrow, a Red commoner with elite Silver abilities, by Victoria Aveyard. After drastic escape from Maven, who was once Mare's friend turned traitor to her and now new King of Norta, Mare, Cal, and her allies are with the Red Guard, a rebellion fighting against the oppressive Silver society, where she reunited with her family! But still Mare can't trust anyone...not her family, Red Guard, and not even Cal...who can betrayed her at any moment to any faction! Mare is fighting her inner and external battles, questions loyalties, and is driven with the help of her tutor's book of potential new bloods just like herself!! This series reminds me similar heroines in a despot future that has found a new power to help free herself and her people from oppressive, cruel elite Silver society!

The author also had samples of two prequels books from the "Red Queen" world about the future Queen Coriane, Cal's Mother, in "Queen Song" and young Captain Farley in the Red Guard in "Steel Scars" which I would like to read both to get the understand the Red/Silver sides that lead up to "Red Queen"!!
Although partially cover, is Mare's quote, "If I am a sword, I am a sword made of glass, and I feel myself beginning to shatter." I can't wait for the conclusion of this story of Mare and her fight against King Maven in the next book!! I recommend this book if you love strong female heroines in fiction stories or situations!
On a separate note, my used smart phone is broken so I am taking a break from book reviews for now because I love using original photos of the books that I get at my local college library as a book blogger!
Until next time...
