#LifeWithNathan Facing #Footsurgery for #Hangnail At #MarthaJeffersonHospital

For my son's "12th Birthday" he got foot surgery specifically his big toe which had a hang toe that has been infected and causing my Nathan pain over the last two months! He was referred to a wonderful doctor named Waltz who tried first time and second time a charm to performed this much needed medical care for my son's toe!! And its no small thing with a strong individual living with Autism, let me tell you, but here after surgery is my son feeling like "Superman" with the help of pain blockers up and about after 30 minutes post surgery!!

I am very happy and pleased with the care and compassion Nathan and myself was treated at Martha Jefferson Hospital from the reception, the nurses, surgical team, and Dr. Waltz!!  Everyone engaged and talked to my son (and this nervous parent!!) from the whole process!!  Nathan got a room with window in which he loved watching the vent pipes and the outdoor parking areas which put a smile on his face!! The nurses helped communicate to Nathan about being patient about "lunch" after surgery, using the pain chart that had pain faces to express how he was feeling, and watching kid shows like Thomas the Train and Bob the Builder on the local PBS channel!! When it was time for surgery, I was able to walk with Nathan to the OR where he was placed on gas to sleep before the applying the IV and began the operation which is a five minute procedure!!

This is picture show how happy Nathan was before his surgical procedure and I can confidently say as his mom that I would recommend this hospital to fellow parent for their child esp if he or she is living with special needs to receive the best quality care!!

Until next time....
